Mango (BETA) is here ! How to get the Beta

 

Also, als aller aller erstes muss ich sagen:

“As with firmware flashing on any device, there's the potential to ‘brick’ or permanently disable your phone if you don't follow the instructions exactly. The Windows Phone Developer Team strongly recommends that you carefully read all instructions before starting the process.”

Was wird dafür benötigt:

• WP7 Device
• Developer Account
• Device  unlocked

Die Mango Beta ist momentan nur für Entwickler aus folgenden Ländern erhältlich:

Australia Austria Belgium	Brazil Canada Denmark	Finland France Germany
Great Britain Greece Ireland	Italy Luxembourg Mexico	Netherlands New Zealand Norway
Portugal Spain Sweden	Switzerland United States

(Muss nicht sein, wird aber empfohlen)Als erstes werden die Windows Phone Developer Tools installiert. Wenn ihr die Beta 1 installiert habt, müsst ihr diese Deinstallieren. (Für die Installation der Tools)

Für an die Beta zu kommen wird eine Einladung benötigt. In dieser Einladung ist ein Link enthalten, wo ihr an die Source kommt. Wenn Ihr die Enladung erhalten habt, dann seht ihr (Connect) oben rechts im Account auf dem Dashboard auch die Option “My Pending Actions” .

Ganz wichtig ist, das vor dem Update ein Backup gemacht wird. Der Backup muss an einem sicheren Ort aufbewahrt werden, den vermutlich lässt sich dann die Final Mango Version wieder nur über das “Original” installieren, welches Provider abhängig ist. Das heisst, dass wenn Mango Final ist, Ihr euer Phone zuerst wieder auf den vor-Beta Zustand bringen müsst. (Vermutlich)

Es wird pro Developer nur 1 Device für die Beta zugelassen.

Und nun kanns losgehen…

Zuerst muss eine neue Version von Zune installiert werden. Danach wird ein Tool gestartet, welches Zune auf die “Richtigen” Server “biegt”. Nun muss zuerst ein weiteres Tool gestartet werden, welches das Phone “Mango” enabled und danach zuerst ein Backup macht.

Danach kann via Zune der Update gestartet werden. Der Update auf Mango erfolgt in 2 Schritten. Zuerst kommt der Update auf 7401, danach auf die Beta, build 7661.

Mango for Dev’s tomorrow ? (22.Juni) New Date: 30.6 !

Wie die Seite Neo-Win berichtet, soll am 22 oder 23 Juni eine Beta von Mango für ALLE regsitrierten Entwickler erhältlich sein.
Auffällig ist ja bereits, dass viele Presse Preview berichte aufgetaucht sind in den letzen Stunden/Tagen.
Anscheinend soll es keine 24 Stunden mehr dauern und via "Create" Hub vom MSDN veröffentlicht werden.
Hier ein Auszug aus der Meldung von Neo-Win:

"Neowin has received multiple independent tips that the beta will be made available for all devices through the MSDN Create hub for those with developer accounts, on June 22/23, with Microsoft set to make the announcement sometime during the next 24 hours. The beta will not be restricted to "favorite" developers but will be generally available to anyone with a paid subscription, and will be able to be loaded on any of the production devices.
The timing of the claims line up, as do the legitimacy of the claims considering the amount of reviews that have just appeared. Also, if you look at multiple reviews, each one uses a different device. There aren't any Mango events worldwide for this specific launch, so we expect a release will appear on Microsoft's PressPass site soon.
Mango brings a new set of features to the platform, including IE9 support, full IM integration, performance improvements and multitasking and is expected to be released in September of this year for general availability."

Ich hoffe dass diese Meldung stimmt …. Und bin glücklich, ein bereits regstrierter Dev. Von WP7 zu sein :-)

Update1 (22.6.11): Leider hat sich das ganze nicht Bewahreheitet. (Zumindest Teilweise nicht) Es wird keine Beta geben, zumindest nicht in dieser Woche. Dazu gibt es zwar kein “Hoch” ofiziellen Ausagen, jedoch kein geringerer als Brandon Watson, (Senior Director of Windows Phone 7 development ) twittert, dass die Informationen so nicht stimmen. Er twitterte z.B:
“No developer devices this week either. This week is for press reviews. Focus on consumer features. Enjoy the sweetness of Mango.”
“@winrumors and neowin are not correct. Press reviews of consumer features are only thing happening this week.”
Dann warten wir halt noch ein wenig

Update2 (29.6.11): Bil Cox hat heute morgen getwittert : "Big day for Windows Phone: Angry Birds, Epicurious, Eventful, Dictionary.com, Kik, GoWalla. And a juicy surprise for tomorrow..." Nun ist dem geneigten WP7 Fan vermutlich klar was gemeint ist.. (juicy = mango). Bin wieder gespannt ob's diesmal klappt...
