Gestern hat Microsoft begonnen, an die Hersteller Mango RTM asuzuliefern. Gleichzeitig haben sie begonnen, an die Entwickler den Build 7712 zu verteilen. Dieser Build geht nur an die Entwickler und nur an jene, welche bereits auf Mango sind. (7661) Wichtig hier ist, dass dies NICHT die RTM Version ist. Für RTM haben alle auf den Offiziellen Release zu warten.Gleichzeitig wurde auch das Windows Phone SDK 7.1 “Beta 2 Refresh” freigegeben.
Was soll den nun dieser Update und nicht gleich RTM ? Cliff Simpkins erklärt dies in seinem Blogpost so:
For the folks wondering why we’re not providing the ‘RTM’ version, there are two main reasons. First, the phone OS and the tools are two equal parts of the developer toolkit that correspond to one another. When we took this snapshot for the refresh, we took the latest RC drops of the tools and the corresponding OS version. Second, what we are providing is a genuine release candidate build, with enough code checked in and APIs locked down that this OS is close enough to RTM that, as a developer, it’s more than capable to see you through the upcoming RC drop of the tools and app submission. It’s important to remember that until the phone and mobile operator portion of Mango is complete, you’re still using a pre-release on your retail phone – no matter the MS build. Until that time, enjoy developing and cruising around on build 7712 – it’s a sweet ride, to be sure. :)

Back from Holidays
So, bin zurück aus meinem Urlaub.Eigentlich war es ja nur eine Woche, aber natürich trotzdem spannend…. Und ich habe meine freie Zeit im Grossraum L.A verbracht.. (L.A ist ja klein)
Zurück zum Thema. WP7 war natürlich an der Partner Conference in L.A auch ein Thema. Aber darüber wird es in meinem Blog (nie) gehen. (Never say never).
Was hat sich in der Zeit getan ? Nun ich bin nun mit Mango seit mehr als 28 Tagen unterwegs, und wer mich kennt… ich brauch das Device. Nun ein update, was ich alles so erfahren habe mit dem Device, was ist zu erwarten, was wohl eher nicht.
Zuerst was ich im letzen Blog nicht erwähnt habe.
Multitasking: Absolut “geil”. Absolut nützlich, jedoch von keinen (wenigen) Applikationen wirklich unterstützt. Da braucht es noch ein paar Dev’s (helfe gerne) die Ihre Apps anpassen. Aber das länger auf dem “back” button bleiben und die noch aktive app zu wählen, hat mir schon einige Zeit erspart. Hierzu muss ich einfach sagen…. Guys, passt eure Apps an, it’s worth !
Integration: Die Integration schreitet voran. Ich benutze nur wohl wirklich Foursquare weniger, weil ich direkt in Facebook Places einchecken kann. Nun… wers mag. Ich bleib bei 4Square. Im moment zumindest noch. Aber das direkte Status wählen und die Konversations möglickeiten mit Windows Live sind einfach gut und einfach gelöst (Es spielt keine Rolle ob du nun via Facebook chattest, Live Messenger oder SMS schreibts, alles in der selben Timeline und am selben Ort, sprich transparent) (Ich warte immernoch auf den Lync Client) . Schade (auf meinem Device) ist hier noch, dass die Twitter Integration noch auf “Following soon” steht. Nun, hab Devices gesehen, die da schon weiter sind. Da muss ich dann aber sagen, die Übersicht leidet ein wenig… aber we will see…. auf jeden Fall auf dem richtigen Weg ! Ach ja, Office 365 ist natürlich integriert, aber das muss ich ja nicht näher erläütern. (Ausser es wird gewünscht)
Was ist passiert in den letzen knapp 3 Wochen ?
Nun die Spekulationen, wer nun mit welchen Devices kommen wird, die werden immer grösser. Nur, neu ist dabei eigentlich nichts. Wir wissen, dass Nokia seine ersten WP7 Devices erst mit Mango bringt. Nun wird über das Release Datum spekuliert…. ich kann, darf, dazu nichts sagen. Nur… jeder der das liest, weiss wann WP7 gelauncht wurde… und wann Weihnachten ist… muss ich mehr sagen ? At least then, some devices will be available….mehr muss ich nicht sagen. Trotzdem spannend ist, dass sich nun neue Herstelller dazu bekennen: (hier eine spekulative Übersicht) http://zunited.net/2011/07/the-list-of-new-windows-phone-devices-real-or-not/ Dazu gibt es noch zu sagen, das Mango kein RTM vor Ende September haben wird… auch spekulation.

- Better application management: By selecting ‘Edit catalog details’ on the app ‘Lifecycle’ tab you can now change the app metadata without submitting your app for re-certification, thus reducing the time to update and publish new information.

In addition, during the app submission process, developers can now select categories and sub-categories for all languages.
Nun, wir Dev’s wisssen das vielleicht schon… Aber habt Ihr schon gemerkt was da kommt…

Die ersten 36 Stunden mit Mango (Beta) – Eine Moment Aufnahme
Zuerst beginne ich mit dem Update Prozess. Dieser Verlief bei mir absolut Reibungslos. Das Backup benötigte jedoch rund 70 Minuten und die beiden Updates 7401 rund 30 und der 7661 rund 85 Minuten. Alles zusammen hat dann doch lange gedauert. Da hat es sich wirklich gelohnt, dass ich mitten in der Nacht aufgestanden war, denn ich konnte danach normal zur Arbeit und mein Phone wie gewohnt einsetzen.
Natürlich wurde danach intensiv getestet. Ich habe nicht explizit einzelne Features “angepeilt” , sondern normal das Phone benutzt zum Arbeiten. Dabei bin ich überall auf neue Features gestoßen. Meine ersten Erfahrungen damit möchte ich hier gerne weitergeben.
Bilder und Musik:
Relativ schnell fiel mir auf, dass ich keine Bilder und keine Musik mehr auf dem Handy hatte. Ein etwas detaillierter Blick zeigte mir aber dann (Verfügbarer, resp. benötigter Speicher) dass der Content mit Bestimmtheit noch auf dem Device ist. Also, kein Problem dachte ich mir, ich werde dann am Abend zuhause wieder Zune anschließen und dann kommt das “schon gut”. Wieder zuhause zeigte sich dann, dass Zune den Content auf dem Phone zwar erkennt, jedoch als Content der mit einem anderen Computer synchronisiert wurde. Anscheinend hat mit der speziellen Zune Version irgendwas an der “Sync ID” oder so geändert. Zune ist der Meinung das dies nicht Content ist, der von Zune gemanaged wird und da Phone vermutlich das nicht ich der “User” dieses Contents bin. Deshalb sehe ich das ganze vermutlich nicht mehr. Da ich sowieso vorher alles gesynct hatte, löschte ich halt den Content vom Phone und richtete einen neuen sync ein. Nun ist alles wieder ok.
Gruppierte E-Mail Konten:
Das gruppieren mehrerer E-Mail Konten (z.B wenn man an der Arbeit mehrere verschiedene Konten hat) erwies sich sehr schnell als extrem nützliches Feature. Ich habe nun nur noch ein Live Tile, welches mir dann den Posteingang von allen 3 Firmen Konten öffnet. Dabei löst sich auch das Notifikationsproblem, welches ich früher mal hier im Blog beschrieben hatte. Auf dem Startscreen ist nur noch ein Live Tile, welches sehr viel übersichtlicher macht. Auch das Arbeiten damit geht einiges Effizienter.
Konversationen
In Konversationen (SMS) sind neue Möglichkeiten hinzugekommen. Es ist nun z.b. möglich, eine SMS zu diktieren. Natürlich auf “Hoch” Deutsch. Funktioniert erstaunlich gut. Mundart geht auch, jedoch steigt der Fun Faktor erheblich und die Trefferquote sinkt…. Ich kann nun in der Konversation auch wechseln zwischen Facebook Chat oder SMS. Auf der Seite Online sehe ich wer zurzeit alles Online ist und dessen Präsenz. Meine eigene Präsenz kann ich natürlich auch steuern. Da die Konversationen aus Chats und SMS/MMS alle in der selben Timeline dargestellt werden ist sehr interessant und hat nun auch den Namen Konversation verdient.
Die Integration von Facebook Chat klappte noch nicht ganz auf Anhieb. Zuerst muss man die Option “Facebook Chat” einschalten, dann erscheint eine Meldung, dass mein FB Account noch Konfiguriert werden muss. Danach öffnet sich der IE und eine leere Seite, resp. ungültigen URL wird angezeigt. Danach in den Einstellungen den FB Account synchronisieren und plötzlich funktioniert es wie gewünscht. Der Messenger funktioniert wie gewünscht. Jedoch ist es bei den Messenger PC- Versionen so, dass die Meldung immer an allen Clients ankommt, wenn ich an mehreren clients angemeldet bin. Beim mobile kommt nur die Konversation an, bei welcher ich auch vom Mobile geschrieben habe. (Also wenn ich an 2 Pc angemeldet bin, jemandem “Hallo” schreibe, er mir zürück “Hallo” schreibt, sehe ich seine Antwort auf beiden PC’s, jedoch nicht auf dem Mobile. Klar ? )
Twitter und Linked In
Twitter und LinkedIn sollen genauso wie Facebook dirket auf dem Kontakte/People Hub integriert werden. Die Auswahl zum Verknüpfen der Konten ist auch vorhanden. Beim Versuch diese zu verknüpfen steht dann aber auf dem Bestätigungs Button. “In kürze Verfügbar”.
Battery Saver
Eine weitere, neue und nützliche Funktion ist der “Batterien Saver”. Wenn ich diese Funktion einschalte, dann reduziert das Handy den Strom bei niedrigem Akku Stand aufs Minimum. Es werden WLAN, Push Mail etc. ausgeschaltet. Informiert über diesen Zustand werde ich durch ein kleines Herz im Batterie Symbol. (Da wo beim Aufladen der Stecker angezeigt wird). Sobald das Handy wieder unter Strom steht werden alle Funktionen wieder eingeschaltet. Natürlich lassen sich im “Saver” Modus auch alle Funktionen wieder einschalten, wenn ich z.B Mails lesen möchte. (Sync manuell anstossen) Oder das WLAN wieder einschalten.
Suche
In der Suche (Bing Suche) gibts es auch einige Änderungen. Mir stehen von den neuen Funktionen jedoch “nur” die Visual Search und das Mikrophone zur Verfügung. ( Noch kein Musik Service, dies könnte aber auch mit meiner Lokation zu tun haben, siehe weiter unten) Mit dem Mikrophone kann ich den Such-Befehl diktieren (klappt i.o) und mit dem Auge (Kamera wird eingeschaltet) kann ich texte einscannen,über QR Codes und MS Tags halten. Bei den Tags und den QR Codes wird automatisch die entsprechende Seite geöffnet.
Market Place HTC Apps
Der Marketplace hat sich aus meiner Sicht nur ein wenig geändert. Dies hat sicherlich damit zu tun, dass (wie bereits erwähnt) in der Schweiz einfach gewisse Dienste nicht vorhanden sind. (Musik Suche, Kaufen etc.). Die Sektion “HTC Apps” funktionier nicht mehr, es erscheint eine Fehlermeldung.
Viele der neuen Features sind im Zune Hub (Musik und Videos). Ich kann nun auch bestimmen, dass wenn der Screen gelockt ist, automatisch die Album Art als Hintergrund Bild gezeigt wird. (So wie beim Zune HD, für die die es kennen). Bei mir funktioniert dies nicht oder nicht ganz, jedoch wird auf dem Lockscreen das Bild geändert. Auch hier bin ich überzeugt, dass es mit den hierzulande nicht vorhanden Funktionen / Diensten zu tun hat. So kann ich nach wie vor nicht “Shoppen”, weitere Informationen über den Künstler, Biography etc. abrufen.

Funktioniert so wie ich es erwartet habe und die Sprachausgabe ist sogar Deutsch.
Ich hoffe einfach stark, dass wir nun auch die weitern Funktionen bekommen werden, welche wir heute aus welchen Gründen nicht bekommen, weil wir in der Schweiz sind…. aber dazu habe ich mich schon mal in einem separaten Blog Artikel geäussert.
Ausser den oben erwähnt “Probleme” läuft bei mir seit nun 36 Std. Mango absolut problemlos, die neuen bis jetzt gefunden resp. benötigten Features machen Freude… Ich melde mich dann wieder, wenn's was neues zu erzählen gibt…
